Square Dish
Square Dish
This medium sized square dish is handmade in a wooden mold made by my father Mike Dodd and I. The form is heavily inspired by the square dishes made by Shoji Hamada.
The dish is paddled on the rim to create an attractive pattern and is glazed using a tenmoku that also acts as a Kaki when thinner. A Nuka glaze is run around the rim using a slip trailer for an extra decorative effect.
This is one of two made as a nod to Hamada, they are a very useful size, perfect for a table centre piece or looks very good lent upright against a wall on a shelf.
My makers mark is impressed on the back of the dish.
